A film on the historic Kisan Andolan (Famers’ movement) that took place at Delhi’s borders for over a year.
Between November 2020 and December 2021, several hundreds of thousands of protestors laid a siege around the Indian national capital, Delhi to oppose three new farm laws that were introduced by the ruling BJP government. Many perceived the laws as favouring big corporate houses and detrimental to the interests of farmers.
They succeeded a year later, forcing the central government to repeal the laws. A watershed moment in Indian politics, the movement changed the course of Indian socio-economic and political narrative.
The film will interrogate the many facets of the farmers’ movement through collective experiences and individual narratives of several people, who participated in this historic movement and made it a success.
