प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना जिसे जून 2015 में सस्ते घर प्रदान करने उद्देश्य से शुरू किया गया था। इसका उद्देश्य 31 मार्च, 2022 तक योग्य परिवारों / लाभार्थियों को पानी के कनेक्शन, शौचालय की सुविधा और 24 घंटे बिजली की आपूर्ति के साथ 2 करोड़ से अधिक सस्ते घर प्रदान करना है। लेकिन ज़िला शामली के क़स्बा कांधला के कुछ पात्र परिवारों का कहना हैं कि एक किश्त आने बाद हमारी दूसरी किश्त अभी तक नहीं आई ।

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna, which was originally announced by the Central Government in June 2015, is an initiative by the Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 2 crore affordable houses, with clean drinking water connection, toilet facilities and 24-hour electricity supply, by 31 March 2022. Team CCA visited Kandhla village of Shamli district to interview some eligible families to know the situation on ground and investigate whether the promises made under this scheme have been met. The families that were interviewed expressed discontentment and explained how so far, in 7 years, they have only been provided with one instalment. The other instalment is yet to come.
