शामली में मेहनत कर रहे मज़दूरों की समस्याओं को समझने के लिए, चलचित्र अभियान ने यह शृंखला शुरू करी है। यह भाग शामली का एक क़स्बा, कांधला, के एक धोबी मज़दूर की कहानी है। दिन के वो 250 से 300 रूपये कमाता है और पिछले दो-तीन पीढ़ियों से उसके परिवार में सब यही काम करते रहे हैं। वॉशिंग मशीन के आने के बाद उसके काम में बहुत फ़र्क पड़ा है।

To understand the lives of the working class in Shamli, Chalchitra Abhiyaan presents ‘The Working Class of Shamli’, a multi-part series. This episode is about a waserman from a small township in Shamli called Kandhla. The washerman earns roughly Rs.250-300 a month and the last two-three generations from his family have all been in the same profession. His profession has been severely affected because of the introduction of washing machines.
