किसानों की ट्यूबेल पर बिजली के मीटर लगाए जाने और गन्ने का नया मूल्य घोषित करने व गन्ने का बकाया भुगतान किए जाने की मांग को लेकर ज़िला मेरठ के कमिश्नरी चौराहा स्थित चौधरी चरण सिंह पार्क में भारतीय किसान यूनियन ने महापंचायत की। इस महापंचायत को राकेश टिकैत ने संबोधित किया। भारतीय किसान यूनियन के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता राकेश टिकैत ने कहा हैं कि सरकार चुनाव के दौरान घोषणा पत्र में किए गए वादों को भी भूल गई है। किसानों के साथ छल हो रहा है। जबरदस्ती किसानों के नलकूपों पर मीटर लगाने का काम किया जा रहा है, ताकि आने वाले समय में किसान की उपज की कीमत से अधिक बिजली का बिल वसूला जा सके।

Bhartiya Kisan Union held a mahapanchayat at Chaudhary Charan Singh Park, Commissionerate Crossroads in Meerut, demanding declaration of new price for sugarcane and payment of arrears of sugarcane as well as due to the forceful installation of electricity meters on farmers’ tubewells. National spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union Rakesh Tikait addressed the mahapanchayat and said that the government has forgotten the promises made in the manifesto during the elections. Farmers are being cheated. The work of installing meters on the tube wells of the farmers is being done forcefully, so that in the coming time more electricity bill can be collected than the cost of the produce of the farmer.
