उतर प्रदेश के ज़िला मेरठ में 25 अक्टूबर 2023 को साधारण पुर गाँव निवासी राजमिस्त्री इंदु शेखर की परीक्षितगढ़ के धनपुर गाँव में गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी। 2 महीने के बाद मांग पूरी न होने पर 10 जनवरी को दलित समाज के लोगों ने धरना प्रदर्शन किया। इंदु शेखर की हत्या के आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी और उसके परिवार को आर्थिक मुआवजा, सरकारी नौकरी, मेरठ शहर में फ्लैट देने की मांग को लेकर दलित समाज के लोगों ने 10 जनवरी को कमिश्नरी पार्क पर धरना प्रदर्शन किया

On October 25, 2023, Rajmistry Indu Shekhar, a resident of Sadhara Pur village in Meerut, was shot dead in Dhanpur village during an examination. After the demand for justice was not met for two months, on January 10, people from the Dalit community staged a sit-in protest. They demanded the arrest of the accused in the murder of Indu Shekhar, financial compensation for his family, government employment, and the provision of a flat in Meerut City. The protest took place at Commissioner Park on January 10.
