बागपत में बिजली के स्मार्ट मीटर लगाये जाने के विरोध में जनपद बागपत के किसानों में आक्रोश पैदा हो गया हैं। जिसके चलते 18 सितंबर 2024 को ज़िला बागपत के क्लेक्ट्रेट में ज़िले के किसान और किसान एकता संघर्ष समिति, नौजवान भारत एकता सभा, किसान एकता केंद्र और मजदूर सहायता समिति समेत आधा दर्जन किसान संगठनों ने शक्ति का प्रदर्शन करते हुए कलेक्ट्रेट में प्रदर्शन कर धरना दिया। किसानों का कहना है कि ये बिजली के स्मार्ट मीटर किसी भी हालात में लगने नही देंगें।

In Baghpat, there has been significant anger among farmers regarding the installation of smart electricity meters. On September 18, 2024, farmers from the district, along with organizations like the Farmers’ Unity Struggle Committee, Youth India Unity Assembly, Farmers’ Unity Center, and Labor Assistance Committee, staged a sit-in protest at the district collectorate. The farmers have stated that they will not allow the installation of these smart meters under any circumstances.
