2011 की जनगणना के मुताबिक देशभर में 17.7 लाख लोग बेघर हैं. कई बार केंद्र और राज्य सरकारें इन तथ्यों की अनदेखी करती हैं | भारत में 24.88 करोड़ लोगों के पास अपना घर है। जिसमें से 20.24 करोड़ लोग हिंदू हैं। 3.12 करोड़ उनमें से मुस्लिम हैं और इसाईयों की संख्या 63 लाख है। वहीं, 41 लाख सिख और 19 लाख जैन अपने घरों के मालिक हैं। मोदी सरकार ने 2022 तक हर किसी को अपना घर देने का वादा किया है जो इन आंकड़ों को देखते हुए पूरा होता नहीं दिख रहा।

According to the 2011 census, 17.7 lakh people are homeless across the country. Many times the central and state governments ignore these facts. 24.88 crore people have their own house in India. Out of which, 20.24 crore people are Hindus, 3.12 crore of them are Muslims and the number of Christians is 63 lakhs. At the same time, 41 lakh Sikhs and 19 lakh Jains are the owners of their homes.
The Modi government had promised to give a house to everyone by 2022, which does not seem to be getting fulfilled looking at these figures.
