Most people in India don’t have access to functional healthcare. The state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has among the worst health care and Human Development Index (HDI) indicators in India. In this video, ChalChitra Abhiyaan looks at a Primary Health Centre for Women’s health in Unnav district in UP. The health centre is in complete shambles. The walls are falling off and leaking, there is no electricity and water supply, the OT is shut, it doesn’t even have basic medical facilities like beds, and the locals claim that doctors hardly ever come to that centre. Several women who can’t afford private healthcare have had to suffer immensely because the centre is in shambles.
