साल 2009 में यूपी सरकार ने काशीराम आवास योजना शुरू की थी। मकसद था दलित, मज़दूर और BPL परिवारों को पक्की छत और बुनियादी सुविधाएं देना।
साल 2011 में शामली ज़िले के बनत कस्बे में भी कई परिवारों को मकान मिले। सरकार ने वादा किया था — बिजली, पानी, शौचालय जैसी हर सुविधा होगी।
लेकिन 15 साल बाद भी यहां के लोग बाल्टियों में पानी भरते हैं, अंधेरे में सीढ़ियां चढ़ते हैं, और हर छोटी जरूरत के लिए जूझते हैं।

In 2009, the Uttar Pradesh government launched the Kashiram Housing Scheme with the aim of providing permanent shelter and basic amenities to Dalits, laborers, and BPL (Below Poverty Line) families.
In 2011, several families in the town of Banat in Shamli district also received houses under the scheme. The government had promised facilities like electricity, water, and toilets.
But even after 15 years, residents still fetch water in buckets, climb stairs in the dark, and struggle for even the most basic needs.
The people living there say, “No one is listening to us.”
